Kong & Little Miss Wray
The story so far...
On March 2, 1933, in New York, Kong broke loose and tried to climb the Empire State Building. Sadly, four army biplanes shoot him down and made children cry all around the world.
On December, 17, 1976, in New York, Kong tried to climb to the top of the World Trade Center. Military helicopters attacked and he died from his injuries. Kids all around the world cried again.
On December, 15, 2005, in New York, Kong tried to climb the Empire State Building once again. The U.S. Army was relentless and killed him. At this point, kids were starting to get angry and Kong began to think that maybe New York didn't exactly want him to climb its towers...
November 10, 2023, La Laguna
Kong travels to La Laguna, Canary Islands, Spain, a place that everyone said was friendly to giant apes, for some reason. But as soon as he starts climbing Torre de la Concepción, a swarm of biplanes fall on him. AGAIN?
THIS TIME, HOWEVER, KONG IS NOT ALONE!
Little Miss Wray will jump into her cherry red toy airplane and help Kong get to the top by driving army planes away from him! Kids all around the world watch in awe!

How to play
- Your plane will automatically fly to wherever you point at (mouse/touch)
- Your plane will automatically shoot all installed weapons.
- Collect bananas to level up, install new weapons and improve your plane stats.

Hey, this is a really fun game :D I also took a while to be able to control the plane. Are you still developing it?
Not really, why? I'll update if bugs are found, but it's a short game for a film festival :)
Control takes a while because of rotation speed, but does it make sense? Once you understand that you can't turn as fast as you want - because the plane can't, at first, it makes sense, doesn't it? Or is it the 'point somewhere and the plane goes there' way of controlling the plane?
In the original idea Kong traveled around the globe climbing well known towers, but that would require a larger budget to add new weapons, enemies, locations...
The first time you play, without any tutorial, it is not so clear that the plane is following the crosshair; for me, that would be the place I would shoot by clicking with the left mouse button; it took a while to understand how to move the plane.
I found a minor bug, unlocking the dynamite after the anvil didn't start shooting dynamites.
I think this could attract a good audience if you would be interested in developing it further to make it a commercial project. Let me know what you think :)

I wouldn't mind adding content, I like how it plays! But I also think there's not much more to it without adding new game mechanics. My early plans included multiple locations, more enemies and weapons, skill checks (like classic eings to fly through) But keeping in mind it's a game made for a movie festival, I kept it shot. Last year's game (Nosferatu: Rites of the Skull Cult, also in this itchio account) ended up being way too big! :D
The positives: love the visuals, the soundtrack is cool, and the integration of the old Kong footage is great.
The negative: the control is very unfriendly. I find it difficult to maneuver effectively to be able to grab anything.
I really like the premise, though.
