With tighter controls, less enemy spawns and upgraded graphics, this would be a great arcade game like Snow Bros or Tumblepop. However, this feels more like a bad NES port of one.

I don't know why reviews are only for the developers, so I'm copying mine here:

In top of unfair gameplay, there are no continues! Maybe a difficulty setting or two would help but I think there's just to much going on. It's easier for the enemies to hit you than the other way around. You have to hold a button to carry items and they keep bumping into enemies and falling off. You move like you're in treacle and your jump is quite pathetic. Projectiles get introduced but you have no way of shielding them without buying a one-hit shield. Some enemies refuse to be picked up. All in all, this game feels like it's designed to challenge and not for fun. It's a pity because the opening cutscene offers so much hope that is quickly dashed.

Oh... I'm sorry to hear you didn't like it : ( Yes, indeed the game is designed to be difficult - but you can finish it, if you buy extra lifes and shields and try to not get hit. You hold a button to carry items (like Mario does with shells!) and bumping makes it fall of to add chaos (again, intended). Projectiles are meant to be avoided, not shielded from.

Enemies refusing to be picked up sounds like a bug, though! You should be able to pick all of them.

So yes, all in all it may be a bit on the difficult side? Have you tried playing with a friend in local coop? You can save each other and only miss a life if both of you die.

What worries me is the mention to controls. What is it you didn't like? We tried to tune them to be tight and felt that running, climbing and jumping where done easily... but we may be wrong! Same with difficulty, maybe we have to generate way less enemies or add difficulty settings...

In any case thank you a lot for your review! Helps us understand how people feel about the game :D

Is there a gameplay video of maybe one or two levels from start to finish?

No, I don't know of any video like that : )
